Today’s India is characterised by a large population of young people. Approximately half of our country’s population is less than 25 years old.
Here are some facts about world's longetivity (age) records.
- Japan's Tomoji Tanabe, now the world's oldest man turned 111.
- The official world record for the oldest proven individual remains 122 years, 164 days in the case of Jeanne Calment of France (Feb. 21, 1875-Aug. 4, 1997).
- Helen Stetter of Nebraska, USA. on her 113th birthday (Nov 18 2006), Ms. Stetter passed away June 1 2007, as the world's fourth-oldest person. ( Source: Yahoo)
- India's median age is 24.9, and the population growth rate of 1.38% per annum; there are 22.01 births per 1000 people per year (Source : Wikipedia)
- India should invest more money on education and improve its literacy rate. According to CIA World Fact Book, China's literacy rate is 90.9% and India's literacy rate is only 59.5%.
